its a good ideal, but the eye wants to meet the eyes, or another equally story-telling part of the image. a beard in the foreground may have worked with the eyes cropped out, or better, REALLY blurred, but as it is it looks like an irritating mistake. good rule of thumb is, if you're going to do something that's not conventional, than really do it. If you're going to tilt a horizon, than fucking go whacko on it, and if you're going to use selective focus on a strange area, than make sure you can hardly tell what anything else is. make it look supremely intentional.
